Game Harvest Photo Hints

For the best photo presentation, consider following these hints.

  • Ensure the sun is behind the photographer.
  • Use flash when there's lots of background light or low light conditions.
  • Position the deer head at a slight angle left or right, instead of the nose straight at the camera lens. This provides a better view of the antlers.
  • Position the deer on its chest with the front legs bent at the knees and with the hooves going towards the rear.
  • Place the tongue back in the mouth or out of the photo.
  • Placing wild vegetation in the mouth may also hide the tongue.
  • Avoid blood pools and gut pile in the picture.
  • Smile!
