Nobody has posted here since November so I figured I'd start a new topic.  I'm new to the base, I've been here 2 weeks now.  I took the wife out toward the LFs to show her where my missile launched from back in 2002 and saw a group of about 7 pigs.  One appeared to be decent size I'd guess around 150 lbs.  Is that generally a good area to hunt for them?  Is there a good population on South Base?  I have yet to venture down that way but I think I'm going to later this week and take a look around.

On another note, has anyone ever found any shed antlers around base?  I would imagine it would be pretty difficult with all the ground foliage but if there's a shred of hope, I'd like to look for some.

The pigs are every where. I have had my best luck on north base. As far as sheds they are there but you are right they are pretty hard to find. I have found 6 ranging from a 3 inch spike to a 4 point. If I were you I would get a pig tag and head right back to that spot and get yourself a pig. They are great eating.

Knock em Down, welcome to the forum and back to Vandenberg. I haven't hunted pigs there for a while now. I'm in RVing in Florida now and I'm currently at MacDill AFB FamCamp. On the way here coming down I75 I saw a group of 5 pigs. I was surprised see them so close to a major highway.

I have found some nice sheds on base. I'd like to have seen them on the buck with my crosshairs on him. They are hard to come by. I wouldn't suggest going out to look for them.

Thanks for the welcome Dave.  It's good to be here.  This time for a few years as opposed to a month.
