News: Attention Deer Hunters!
The State has placed 175 G11 tags to be sold on terminals anywhere where licenses are sold. This will allow our customers that are not conveniently located near the Base Exchange to purchase the tag.  On that note, it is recommended that those WHO HAVE LOCAL ACCESS to the Base Exchange to purchase it there.  There are 325 tags being sold to our Base Exchange patrons. All tags are first come first serve. Please e-mail Officer Moses with any questions: wayne.moses.1@us.af.mil
Again, please be considerate of VAFB hunters living outside the convenient range of the Base Exchange.

Well, hello.  This is my first post.  I just had the pleasure to spend the past weekend there an man was it fun.

We left empty handed, but not disappointed.  We hunted north C-2 on Friday, saw sign but it looked older and really didn't see anything fresh.  Although had I had a deer tag I could have bagged a nice fourpoint in the first five minutes.

Hunted C-3 Saturday right by the thicket with the old power wire rail by the power line.  One went north and another and me went south towards the tree line and followed that.  Saw a ton of fresh sign, matter of fact i think it was still steaming, lol.  Saw no pigs at all though, but we became good friends with some cattle.

Went back to C-2 off of Umbra just across the tracks.  Insanely fresh tracks and scat and one of us spotted two large pigs but they were in transit to the thickets and missed the moving target shot.  We could hear them in the thickets but really couldn't do much about it.

Anyways we're just looking for some advice on what areas are good and if it is a track and hunt prey or a sit and wait?

Also, I saw a few questions on this, I am civil service at Edwards and had no issue going to hunt there.  Just in case I brought my dd214 but once they sawmy ID and it showed DOD civilian they didn't ask for anything else.

Thanks all,

Jose
