News: Attention Deer Hunters!
The State has placed 175 G11 tags to be sold on terminals anywhere where licenses are sold. This will allow our customers that are not conveniently located near the Base Exchange to purchase the tag.  On that note, it is recommended that those WHO HAVE LOCAL ACCESS to the Base Exchange to purchase it there.  There are 325 tags being sold to our Base Exchange patrons. All tags are first come first serve. Please e-mail Officer Moses with any questions: wayne.moses.1@us.af.mil
Again, please be considerate of VAFB hunters living outside the convenient range of the Base Exchange.

I was wondering, if there are any scheduled events for fishermen/women out at VAFB. I miss being able to go out there, since 9-11 and the restrictions for access to the base, it's not the same fishing other places up & down the coast. VAFB is such a wonderful area to fish and I am hoping that once I've gotten registered with the Rod & Gun Club, I'd hopefully have access to fish at the base. Hopefully someone can give me some information on this. THANKS!

KRAZI4KATS,

NOT ANY MORE, with beach closures from Mar - Nov each year for the Snowy assinine Plover, and the apparent lack of caring by base officials, its sucks.  Used to be you could go to Pine Canyon lakes and at least catch some fish without 5 lbs of weed, now its so over grown with aquatic weed you can hardly get a boat across the lake, let alone fish.  We used to have a small bass club on base but that too died becasue we couldn't get anywhere with all the weeds.  Don't get me wrong, some grass is healthy, but over grown it chokes out the light and other plants can't grow, along with letting the tall reeds over grow all banks, it's a wonder it isn't either like Punch Bowl.
